Phenomenal!
Freddie Mercury has been my idol since 1975, and Queen has been my all-time favorite band for just as long. The other band members, however, contributed more than just the instruments they play, as most die-hard Queen fans do. They wrote, composed, improvised, and created together, making them a unique creative force. In my mind, the most iconic frontman who ever lived has no replacement. Watching the surviving band members tour with Paul Rodgers of Bad Company was hard because he couldn't come close, vocally or personality-wise, to Freddie. Twelfth Night, on the other hand, has a bombastic voice and creatively campy style and personality that blend well with Queen's material. There is no doubt that the music is timeless and inspiring. The fit was not right, so this incarnation comes in next at #2. Having seen Queen 4 times from '78-'82 with Freddie, and those shows being #1 on my list, everything was electrifying. From the stage to the special effects, Brian's guitar and banter, Roger's drumming and vocals, the surprise "visits" by Freddie via technology, Adam's skill, unique touches, and desire to celebrate Freddie with the audience win you over. He performs as a fan whose heart was stolen by Freddie and who has forged an obvious creative and fond camaraderie with the band. After I got home, the first thing I did was check for where the tour was headed next in case I could travel for a chance to experience this spectacle again. You will leave satisfied, but wanting more!
